Description:

Musical theatre is examined as a reflection and outgrowth of social and historical developments. This course will follow the development of musical theatre from early operettas and minstrel shows to current Broadway offerings. Through the analysis of selected composers, authors, lyricists, and choreographers we will see their contributions to the art of the musical. Students are encouraged to attend musical productions on or off campus during this semester.
