Institution:
Greenfield Community College
Subject:
Women's Studies
Description:
An exploration of contemporary and historical constructs and cross-cultural analysis of the divine feminine while surveying women's roles both within religious institutions and outside of them. Feminist theology suggests women's histories, contributions, social realities and needs have been overlooked and underrepresented within institutionalized religions within patriarchal society. This course gives attention to modern developments in archaeomythology in relation to goddess/earth-based cosmologies, folklore and mythologies. Students explore how religion and spirituality shape both individual lives and modern societies. Prereq: ENG 101, 103, or 105
