The course equips students with a basic knowledge of the primary historical and cultural factors that have contributed to the development of contemporary Irish socio/cultural identity. The program is divided into four modules: Introduction to Anglo-Irish literature, Introduction to Northern Irish Politics, Introduction to Irish Hisotry 1900-1922, and Introduction to Irish Society and Culture. Two, four-day field trips and visits to theaters, juseums, heritage centers and historical locations compement the lectures. Special Requirement: Enrollment in the DBS Study Abroad program; approval of DBS coordinator. Prereq: Competion of 24 college-level credits; gpa of 2.75 or higher.
