CPT - 4 MEDICAL CODING Prerequisite: OST 2450 Teaches the importance of the relationship between ICD-9-CM codes and CPT 4 (Current Procedural Terminology) in assuring accurate coding and reimbursement. Also examines medical records to determine primary and secondary procedures; teaches ICD 9-CM codes and CPT 4 codes unique to medical specialty areas; introduces students to RBRVS codes and their importance in billing Medicare; and presents importance of individual payer coding requirements.
