This course continues to build upon concepts in previous courses. The course content focuses on the health care needs and the commonly occuring health problems of the pediatric client, the child bearing-family, and the mother-infant dyad. This course continues to provide the basis for implementation of planned approaches to promote adaptation and expands upon the teaching role of the nurse. In addition, the course introduces the student to current social, legal, and ethical issues affecting the child and the developing family. Nutritional and pharmacological concepts are integrated throughout the course. Basic management and leadership skills are touched upon.
