This course utilizes the conceptual frameowrk and key concepts of the curriculum introduced in previous courses to focus on the study of pharmacology and its implications for nursing care of clients across the lifespan. Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics are studied focusing on the identification of therapeutic and non-therapeutic effects. Furthermore, students are introduced to drug classifications and specific drugs as used in selected common well-defined alterations in health. Finally, legal and ethical pharmacological issues relevant to nursing are discussed.
