Utilization of mathematical operations to solve practical business application problems. The core topics include percents with applications, banking (check writing, statements reconciliation) cash and trade discounts, markup and markdowns, payroll, interest, notes, present value. Additional topics may be selected from the following: installment buying, mortgages, taxes, insurance, stocks, bonds, analysis of financial statements, treatment of depreciation and inventory costs. Use of touch control method on electronic calculators. A review of basic mathematics will be covered as needed--addition, subtraction multiplication and division of whole numbers, fractions, decimals, ratios, proportions and percents.
