Description:
This course is designed primarily to introduce all aspects of interpreting in a variety of settings and situations, with a particular focus on educational interpreting. Students will be expected to demonstrate knowledge of Deaf culture, skills learned in ASL and Sign Language prerequisite courses, and will be exposed to the role of an interpreter, Codes of Ethics used for interpreters, EIPA, NAD, and RID guidelines and certification requirements, ADA laws, and the different settings in which interpreters are utlilized.
