Description:
This practicum focus is the clinical application of the nursing process in the care of diverse individuals/families/ communities/global societies experiencing alterations across the lifespan. The NLN Core Competencies of Professional Behavior, Communication, Assessment, Clinical Decision Making, Caring Interventions, Managing Care, Collaboration, Teaching and Learning are integrated into the practicum experience. This experience is designed to correlate the theory content of NUR 254, NUR 264, and NUR 281. Students utilize the nursing process in caring for clients in assigned health care facilities under the supervision of West Virginia Northern Nursing faculty. Twelve-hour clinical requirement may be scheduled as one 12-hour day or two 6-hour days as clinical availability requires.
