Description:
This course is the continued study of alternating current in transformers and motors. The course begins with a short review of AC theory and the use of oscilloscopes leading into AC generators. The student will study single- and three-phase transformers, transformer hookups, maintenance, and their characteristics. The class will discuss control circuits, basic start/stop stations, reversing starters, and the drawing and lab-hookups of control circuits, wire sizes, amperage of systems and how to build a motor control center with the proper switches and starters. Lab exercises will include wiring control circuits.
