FUNSAR is a National Association of Search and Rescue course designed to provide knowledge concerning the general responsibilities, the skills and abilities, and the equipment needed by persons who would be participating in search and rescue missions. The course provides practical outdoor field exercises, including an overnight stay and a practice (mock) search mission with the students being required to have the proper equipment and stay out in the field during daytime and nighttime operations. The course content includes topics in three major areas: survival and support, search and rescue.
