This course is a study of the literature of the South emphasizing Appalachia. Using a non-sequential time frame, it includes a variety of genres, especially the novel of the 10th century. The focus is on the culture of the South as revealed through its literature. Prerequisite: ENGL 1020. (This course does not substitute for the sophomore literature requirement.)
