Introductory course examines the world ocean from an earth system perspective. Students will be involved in a laboratory of real-world ocean information such as ocean profiler data and land-satellite images. Covers physical, chemical, and biological properties of the ocean as well as the interactions between the ocean and the hydrosphere, atmosphere, lithosphere, and biosphere. (4 contact hours: 2 lecture, 2 lab)
