Prerequisite: ITCS 1010 or permission of instructor This course provides an introduction to the basic components of an IBM z-series mainframe. Through assigned readings, lab assignments, lecture, and classroom discussions, students will progress from an overview of hardware components; to operating system concepts; on to an overview of job entry, transaction subsystems, and user interaction with the operating system. Students will also gain an introduction to system programming and maintenance tasks. This course helps students prepare for the IBM Mainframe System Programmer Mastery certification exam. (4 contact hours: 2 lecture, 2 lab)
