Description:
This course will introduce students to the information literacy skills necessary for professional and personal success in the current information environment. Students will examine an array of information resources and research practices. Students will learn to craft a search strategy appropriate to the resource being used. Students will become knowledgeable in the use of keywords, Boolean Operators, and other search parameters. Students will be able to recognize the value of resources based on quality of content and relevance to their information need. Students will locate both print and electronic information. Students will be able to access and retrieve digitized information. They will understand the complex issues related to responsible use of information, and students will learn to manage and cite information according to accepted standards. The course grade will be Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory. (1 contact hour)
