NURS 4100 Nursing Practice III: Family and Child Care 4 credits 4 class hours, 12 clinical hours Pre-Requisites: NURS 3201, NURS 3203, NURS 3204 Co-Requisites: NURS 4101, 4102 The focus of this course is the integration of nursing practice concepts to the family, pediatric and mental health client. A developmental framework for understanding the life cycle, physiological and psychological changes provides the foundation for care giving. This course will also provide the oportunity for the student to focus on the role of the nurse in providing care with the family in the childbearing stage and the pediatric client. Consideration is given to the growth and development period of the child and adolescent. Students will apply the nursing process with women, children, and families whoc mage vary in age, ethnicity, and cultural backgrounds. Family and child experiences related to this content are also included in the community course (NURS 4101). The concepts of communication, pharmacology, nutrition and education are integrated.
