NURS 3102 Nursing Practice I: Health Assessment and Promotion 5 credits 3 class hours, 6 clinical hours Pre-Requisite: BIOL 3410 Co-Requisite: NURS 3100 This course focuses on health history and physical examination skills, as well as health promotion, restoration, and maintenance activities related to caring for diverse clients. Emphasis is on the cognitive, affective and psychomotor skills necessary to perform a complete head-to-toe physical examination. It also includes clinical variations, developmental tasks, and health promotion, restoration, and maintenance activities related to the infant, child and older adult, as well as significant cultural variations. Application of clinical assessment and clinical judgement is assessed in the laboratory setting. Cultural and ethnic factors impacting health care beliefs and practices will be explored.
