This course provides an introduction to algebraic concepts and techniques. The purpose of this course is to prepare the sutdent for entry into Intermediate Algebra (MATH 0099). The topics covered include performing basic operations with rational and real numbers, solving linear equations and inequalities, solving systems of equations, simplifying expressions with exponents, simplifying polynomials, solving applications of linear equations, graphing points and lines in a coordinate plane, writing equations of a line, and solving systems of equations. Institutional credit only. 4-0-4 Entry into MATH 0097 is either by choice or placement.
