Description:
Prerequisite: SPAN 201 or four years of high school Spanish. Strongly recommended: READ 099 if required by reading placement exam or if required by reading level. This course is an advanced study of the Spanish language and Spanish-speaking cultures, focusing on the refinement of the skills acquired in preliminary and intermediate level structures, and a focus on readings of culturally relevant authentic materials. Emphasis is on further refining oral, listening, reading and writing skills in order to acquire proficiency in Spanish. Reading strategies and fundamentals of formal composition are further developed in conjunction with level-appropriate literary and film selections. Class is largely conducted in Spanish. 90 lecture hours.
