The astronomy of the solar system including the history of astronomy, Newton's and Kepler's laws, light, telescopes, the Sun, terrestrial and giant planets, satellites, comets, meteors, and the origin of the solar system. Students are expected to work and participate at an honors level which includes strong critical thinking skills, thorough analysis of astronomical readings, presentation and leadership skills demonstrated through class participation/presentation, and service learning in the community. 54 lecture hours.
