Prerequisite: DENT 101, 102, 121, 122, 123, and 124. Strongly recommended: READ 099 if required by reading placement exam or if required by reading level. This course provides preclinical and, where appropriate, clinical practice in functions delegated to the dental assistant and the registered dental assistant under the jurisdiction of the California Dental Practice Act as specified by the rules and regulations of the Board of Dental Examiners. Emphasis is placed on the practical application of each task, competency of performance, demonstrated concern for patient safety, and an acquired background knowledge to support each duty. 60 lecture hours, 81 lab hours.
