Strongly recommended: READ 099 if required by reading placement exam or if required by reading level. This course is an introductory course for students wishing to explore the teaching profession in the K-12 setting. Topics include an introduction to teacher performance expectations and California Standards for the teaching profession. Other topics include pedagogical strategies, curriculum design, California subject matter standards, use of technology in today's classroom and the importance of current issues and legislation. In addition, students will be required to observe 45 hours in K-12 classrooms. 54 lecture hours.
