Description:
Prerequisite: 1. A grade of ā€œCā€ or better in MATH 098 within the last two years OR 2. A satisfactory score on the Math Placement Test taken in the last year. Course credit does not meet the requirement of some degrees. This course builds and extends concepts taught in MATH 098. Competence in skills of Basic Algebra is assumed. Review of linear equations and inequalities, factoring polynomials, and graphing linear equations. Other concepts covered include systems of equations in three variables, complex numbers, synthetic division, rational expressions and equations, solving and graphing quadratic equations, the laws of exponents including rational exponents and scientific notation, radicals and introduction to functions. Problem solving strategies are emphasized.
