Teaching and learning in an online class is very different from the face-to-face environment found in campus classrooms. As an online instructor, it is important to understand the challenges and structure of online learning. In this online course, students will gain knowledge of strategies that will help them close the “distance” between the instructor and his or her students. Example topics include course design; working with 21st century learners; effective strategies for online assessment and facilitating active discussion boards; and plagiarism and copyright issues.
