Prerequisites: CIS 134 (or concurrent enrollment in CIS 134) Out-of-class computer work required. This course provides the basic competencies of installing, configuring, and administering Windows Server in a network environment. Topics covered include how to create and manage client accounts, how to setup and administer shared resources, how to manage server resources and security through groups, how to plan the active directory and security, how to configure and manage network protocols and services, how to monitor the network, and how to optimize the server. All topics will be presented in the context of Microsoft Windows. Preparation course for the Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) Server exam and covers MCSE certification topics.
