Description:
Students will be introduced to a variety of skills to enable them to assist fellow students on their academic journey. The classroom portion of the class will consist of lecture, experiential learning, active listening, and communication skills, as well as an introduction to peer education, peer counseling, and peer theater. There will also be classroom seession on special topics related to campus issues, such as alcohol and substance abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and other topics addressed by peer educators. Students who complete the course will be eligible to be a member of Western's SOS Peer Education Crew and a member of the National BACCHUS & GAMMA Peer Education Network.
