We will survey the major topics in the philosophy of language, focusing primarily on the concept of meaning, and will read works by Frege, Russell, Quine, Kripke, and others. Prerequisite: PHI 453, PHI 495, or any of PHI 470 through PHI 489 (or instructor's permission).
