An introduction to the core concepts of American law that compares those concepts with concepts in other traditions. The ideas central to American law are presented in their historical and intellectual contexts. These ideas are then contrasted to ideas in foreign law to give new LES majors a foundation in American law, legal history, and its place in the world.
