Introduction to quantum mechanics, with emphasis on the explanation of atomic structure and chemical bonding. Exploration of the chemical applications of group theory as it relates to chemical bonding and molecular vibrations. Introduction to statistical mechanics and the statistical interpretation of classical thermodynamics. Concludes with a discussion of the kinetics of chemical reactions.
