Introduces students to basic painting techniques and problems through the exploration of color mixture, form, content, and pictorial depth in a variety of media. Emphasis on proper archival techniques, canvas, paper choices, and stretcher building will be included. Historical and contemporary approaches to painting will be studied through hands-on studio demonstrations followed by concentrated student projects. (Lab Fee)Prerequisites: Consent of the Instructor for non-Art majors.Credit, three hours.
