Principles and pragmatics of pattern recognition, digital image processing and analysis. Statistical pattern recognition: complete vs. incomplete approach (via supervised vs. unsupervised learning). Structural pattern recognition. Image processing: image acquisition and digitization, making decisions based upon the available features. Image segmentation (by clustering, textured images, range images and multispectral images) and registration. Prerequisite: CPSC 5370 and advanced statistics
