Climate change is an important and hotly debated topic both in the scientific community and in people’s everyday lives. This course will look at how the Earth’s climate has changed over the last 4.6 billion years, what we know about those changes, and how this information can help us today and into the future. We will examine basic techniques used by scientists to read the climate record and how to analyze this data. Discussion will center on causes for past climate changes and how humans today are possibly impacting or causing a shift in the Earth’s climate.
