Description:
The main focus of the course is on identification of members of the Poaceae, or grass family. Identifying characteristics will be taught by subfamily, tribe, genus and specific epithet. Construction and use of taxonomic keys will be central to the class. Students will work through grasses provided to identify them down to species. Upon completion of the class the students will be able to recognize common tribal and genera characteristics, and be able to key out unknown grasses.
