The study of a specialized topic in nursing practice as a part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team. Modules of learning depending on the semester hours credit awarded include: 1) Analysis of current best practice based on research evidence; 2) Development of a quality improvement project; 3) Delineation of patient safety as related to the nuring specialty area; 4) Application of knowledge in the clinical setting under the guidance of a preceptor. This course may be repeated with a new focus for additional elective hours if needed. (1-4 hours)
