One of the major jobs of news media is to keep the public informed about the nation's political institutions and the actions of its military. However, war coverage is difficult because, on the most basic level, journalists must balance the people's right to know against information that might risk security. This course explores the role of the journalist during war, as well as evaluates how well the media do in maintaining that balance.
