An analysis of similarities and difference between the sexes in biological and socialization factors and in the development of gender and sexual identity. Discussions center on the impact of gender roles on the lives of females and males in our society and how various factors influence these roles. An exploration of alternate (androgynous) patterns of development. Special emphasis on the development of gender role identity within the African American context. Offered spring semester, alternate years. Prerequisite: SPSY 200-202, or 203.
