General information to astronomy, with emphasis on our solar system and other planetary systems. Topics (chosen by instructor) may include historical astronomy, the sun, the surfaces, interiors, and atmospheres of the planets, comets, asteroids, and meteor impacts, planets around other stars, and the origin of life. No prereq, but familiarity with basic algebra and geometry is beneficial. Must enroll in PSC 100D. 4 lec. Credit Hours: 4 General Education Code: 2NS Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken an unlimited number of times, but only last course taken counts. Note: Effective Summer Quarter 2010-11 (June 2011) any non-repeatable course may be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
