General introduction to astronomy, with emphasis on the structure of the universe beyond our solar system. Topics (chosen by instructor) may include historical astronomy, the sun, stars and galaxies, interstellar matter, black holes, the “Big Bang” theory, and the evolution of the universe. No prereq, but familiarity with basic algebra and geometry is beneficial. Must enroll in PSC 100. 4 lec. Credit Hours: 4 General Education Code: 2NS Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken an unlimited number of times, but only last course taken counts. Note: Effective Summer Quarter 2010-11 (June 2011) any non-repeatable course may be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
