This course will examine the origins and development of organized crime in America. The course will consist of lectures, discussions, as well as guest speakers. Films on organized crime and its activities will be shown frequently during the course as well. The student will become familiar with the various organized crime groups, their method of operations, history, structure, activities, and the law enforcement response to their activity. The course will include review of current activity of organized crime, films, and readings assigned to students.
