Critically examines major theories, research, and debates in the field of urban sociology, including social ecology, Marxist, subcultural, and postmodernist perspectives. Course materials will be framed within two main themes; the dynamics of cooperation and conflict under urban conditions, and the tension between private interests and public life in urban settings.
