Provides an overview of substance abuse, addiction and co-occuring disorders with emphasis on psychoactive drugs including alcohol. Material will focus on the following areas: identification, evaluation, treatment and prevention of substance abuse and addiction, family, friends and coworker issues, legal and medical aspects of substance abuse, populations at risk, the role of support persons, support systems, and community resources. Prerequisite: EDC 231. Graded: Graded Student. Units: 3.0
