Examination of current conditions of confinement; review of confinement related factors common to populations in penal institutions, military installations, mental hospitals, prisoner of war camps, and concentration camps; investigation into the broader implications of conditions of confinement for society; survey of practical strategies for developing and implementing standards for confined populations. Prerequisite: Graduate status, CRJ 200, CRJ 255, and CRJ 260, which may be taken concurrently; or instructor permission; GWAR certification before Fall 09, WPJ score of 70+, or at least a C- in ENGL 109 M/W.
