Prerequisites: SPA 202 or equivalent. Study of notable 20th century Spanish fiction, the world events that influenced this fiction, an introduction to literary analysis and a comparison of fictional texts to literary works from other genres and periods. Students will explore the cultural contexts that have influenced 20th century literary production and examine themes of realism/idealism, art and life, national identity, honor, the Civil war, exile, and women’s experience as portrayed in this literature.
