Prerequisites: Permission of instructor or undergraduate algebra Algebraic Structures for Teachers examines the many forms of algebraic reasoning and their conceptual underpinnings, the fundamental shift in the place of algebra in school mathematics, and the potential unifying role of abstract and general algebraic structures at the upper secondary level. The course will engage students in vigorous critique of traditional and innovative algebra learning materials and technologies.
