Prerequisites: EDU 207, 527; EDU 527 may be taken concurrently; must be taken concurrently with EDU 515 Equity, diversity, motivation, alternative assessment, multicultural education, and the social problems of adolescents. The course covers provisions for the inclusion of special-needs students, as mandated by state and federal legislation, and addresses outcome-based education and open-ended assessment. Extensive reading assignments, written reporting, action research varied assessments, and a demonstration project will prepare future teachers to meet exacting certification requirements and gain teaching competencies.
