A theoretical, historical, and, primarily, rhetorical examination of women’s discourse through the study of speeches, essays, and other rhetorical artifacts. Special attention will be given to the ways women have used traditional rhetorical strategies and how they have subverted this tradition and/or brought strategies from private life to bear on public discourses. On demand. Prerequisites: ENGL 1020 and ENGL 2050, or department head approval. May be registered as ENGL 4850. Credit not allowed in both ENGL 4850 and WSTU 4850.
