An introduction to the nature and techniques of mathematics for nontechnical majors. Applications of mathematics to the solution of historical and modern problems will be discussed by selecting topics from the mathematics of finance, the laws of growth and symmetry, graph theory and management science, or the mathematics of social choice and voting schemes. Every semester. Prerequisites: MATH 1006 with a minimum grade of C or Math ACT 22 or above or department head approval.
