Description:
An introduction to rhetorical studies with an emphasis on rhetorical history, rhetorical analysis and rhetorical practice. Topics include natural and comparative/cultural rhetoric, the rhetoric of ancient Greece, and definition of rhetoric, past and present. Practice will include rhetorical analysis of texts and analysis of the rhetorical principles of purpose, situation, genre and audience. Must be completed within the first 21 hours of major course work. Pre- or Corequisite: ENGL 1020 or department head approval.
