Overview of the development of the electronic computer, its technology, capabilities, and limitations. Ethical and social issues are considered, as well as the role of computers in society. Introduction to the use of a range of useful microcomputer hardware and software. Extensive laboratory experience. Prerequisites: Math ACT subscore of 22 or higher, MATH 1006 with a minimum grade of C or department head approval. Supplementary course fee assessed.
