This transitional course introduces the student to the Nursing Program’s philosophy, conceptual framework, and outcomes. The course includes content on the nursing process, legal and ethical issues, and expanded clinical skills. Using the nursing process, students assess human needs, alterations of human needs, and nursing interventions necessary to meet these needs. The student is introduced to the role of provider of care, manager of care, and member within the discipline of nursing. The course utilizes experiences in the classroom and clinical facilities to address nursing care of clients in acute care settings. *Nursing Mobility Exam (as required); an active and clear (without discipline) Florida certificate or license as a Paramedic, Respiratory Therapist (RRT), Cardiovascular Technician (RCVT), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is required. Paramedics, RRTs, and RCVTs must be Florida certified nursing assistants.
